How to port forward
For Video Games
First what you want to do is go too http://portforward.com/english/routers/port_forwarding/routerindex.htm
Find what router you have by checking on the box for example. If you have a D-link router to the right of “Mine” It shows DIR-615. So what you would do is look under D-link until you see “DIR-615" Then you would click on it then find the game you would like to host on. All so what you have to do is. FOR “XP”Click on start then click on run then type in cmd. then type in ipconfig /all look under “LOCAL AREA CONNECTION” For mine I have to go under DNS/DHCP server and it shows 192.168.2.1 but for most routers’ its under Default gateway.
“For Windows 7" you would do the same thing as above but you would click start then type in cmd. in the search then the rest is the same . . .
Now when you need type in what, it says in Default gate way into the internet web-page the address bar. Sign in Then does what port forward say what to do. For the port’s
I RECOMMEND to where it says ip address where you putting the ports in is to have a “STATIC IP”
How to static your IP
Now some times you need to static your address because not every computer is under the same IP as in 192.168.2.1... They are all under 192.168.x.x. But the rest could be different for example one computer could be 192.168.2.4..But it’s recommend to static your computer what you would do is..Start>Control Panel>Network Connections>Right click on Local Area Connection> Go to properties> In where you see This Connection use’s the following item’s scroll down to where you see (TCP/IP) Click on that then click Properties>
Now what you want to do is click on use the following ip address and use the follow dns...
Now go back to where I said do the Ipconfig /all Now look at the Ip address for “local” Now type in what it says there until the last spot for example 192.168.x.This one here. Now you can type in what ever you want like 333 or 222 it cant go up to 1000 it needs to stay in the range of 3's
For the Submask most of them it’s Default 255.255..255.0 But you would look in your Command port for that to where it shows Sub Mask type that Sub Mask in.
For Default Gate way that one easy Look under Ipconfig /all and look for default gate way and type that in 192.168.x.x
Now for DNS server you would type in what it says in Ipconfig same thing as Default Gate way...
